Gillian Anderson, Michael Shanks and Kristen Bauer head to Emerald City Comicon

“True Blood” vamp Kristen Bauer, “The X-Files” always skeptical Agent Scully, actress Gillian Anderson and “Saving Hope” actor Michael Shanks are the most recently announced guests at Emerald City Comicon, according to the organization’s website.

Also in attendance will be “Stargate Atlantis” actor Paul McGillion.

The event will be held at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle and runs March 1-3. All four actors will appear on Saturday and Sunday.


WSU prof and ‘Decoded’ co-star Buddy Levy to appear at ECCC

Buddy Levy is a TV star, author and WSU English professor. Today, Emerald City Comicon announced the co-star of “Brad Meltzer’s Decoded” on The History Channel will be appearing at the upcoming Emerald City Comicon in March.

ECCC will take place on March 1-3 at the Washington State Convention Center and Levy will appear all three days.

In “Decoded” Levy and company travel the globe in search of answers to longstanding mysteries and legends including the Lincoln assassination, our own D.B. Cooper mystery, secret societies and, of course, UFOs.

Sigh. I’m surprised Bigfoot isn’t on the list.

‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Thrones’ star Natalia Tena to appear at Emerald City Comicon

British actress Natalia Tena, known for her roles in the “Harry Potter” films and HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” is the fourth celebrity guest announced for next year’s Emerald City Comicon.

The pop culture extravaganza will take place March 1-3 at the Washington State Convention Center. Tena will appear all three days.

Harry Potter fans know Tena as the mysterious Tonks in “The Order of the Phoenix,” “The Half-Blood Prince” and “The Deathly Hallows” 1 and 2. She currently can be seen on the hit HBO series “Game of Thrones” playing the wildling Osha.

‘Star Trek’s” Walter Koenig to appear at Emerald City Comicon

“Star Trek’s” Walter Koenig, is the latest celebrity guest announcement for Emerald City Comicon 2013.

It will be Koenig’s first appearance in the Northwest in 15 years. Koenig played Pavel Chekov in the classic “Star Trek” series and films. He’s the third celebrity guest announced for the annual event taking place on March 1-3 at the Washington State Convention Center. He will be appearing all three days.

Star Wars’ Billy Dee Williams announced as guest for Emerald City Comicon

Star Wars actor Billy Dee Williams is the latest announced guest for next year’s Emerald City Comicon.

Williams played Lando Calrissian in the classic “Star Wars” trilogy. He’s the second celebrity guest announced (after Patrick Stewart) for ECCC taking place on March 1-3, 2013 at the Washington State Convention Center. Williams will be appearing all three days.

‘Star Trek’s’ Patrick Stewart ‘makes it so’ with ECCC appearance

Emerald City Comicon, the annual pop culture extravaganza, promises to keep getting bigger and better. Today they are making it so with the announcement of Patrick Stewart as one of the headlining guests for 2013.

Stewart played the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the 1980s-90s reboot of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” More recently he played the role of Dr. Charles Xavier in the “X-Men” films.

The English actor has performed Shakespeare on Broadway and in London. He’s taken comedic turns in “Jeffrey” and poked fun at his own image in Ricky Gervais’s brilliant satire on fame,

Lea Thompson goes back to the future with the help of 23 DeLoreans

Lea Thompson greets fans at the SIFF cinema after arriving from Emerald City Comicon via DeLorean.

“This is the best day ever,” actress Lea Thompson said as she stepped out of a DeLorean behind the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle Saturday night. A fleet of 22 more DeLoreans surrounded her. “They’ve had babies,” she said.

A few minutes later the 23 DeLoreans – one holding Thompson – were headed to the SIFF Cinema at the Uptown for a showing of the classic 1985 movie, “Back to the Future.”

Jason Momoa doesn’t mind being typecast

Jason Momoa has made a career out of playing big, tough bad ass characters. The star of “Game of Thrones,” “Conan the Barbarian” and “Stargate Atlantis” said that’s OK with him Saturday at Emerald City Comicon.

“You can typecast me. I like playing those characters.”
