‘Chasing Ice’ returns to Tacoma

“Chasing Ice,” the documentary about Earth’s rapidly shrinking glaciers and ice sheets, is returning to Tacoma for a special showing on Monday.

The film, with stunning time lapse photography, played recently at The Grand Cinema. This showing will be at the University of Washington Tacoma.

Here’s the schedule:

5:00 – Refreshments
5:30 – Welcome by Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland
5:30 – Screening of “Chasing Ice”
7:00 – Discussion with glaciologist Matt Bachmann and UW Tacoma faculty
7:30 – Encore screening of “Chasing Ice”

It’s free and will be in Phillips Hall on the UWT

‘Chasing Ice’ comes to the Grand with special events

“Chasing Ice” – the documentary about global warming – is getting near universal great reviews. (Ours runs Friday in GO). National Geographic photographer James Balog set up time lapse cameras over a period of years to capture astounding images of glaciers melting before the cameras’ unblinking eyes.

The film is coming to the Grand Cinema on Friday and the theater has a couple of events lined up in conjunction with the screenings.
