Bon Jovi is #1 worldwide tour of the year

On Oct. 5 you’ll get a chance to be experience the world’s number one touring band: Bob Jovi.

The band made the top-grossing spot with “BON JOVI Because We Can – The Tour,” according to Pollstar Magazine. The tour will land at the Tacoma Dome on Oct. 5.

The tour, which began in February 2013, has sold out venues around the world, bringing in over $142 million.

The tour features a state-of-the-art production which emulates a larger-than-life classic 1959 Buick Electra. To view the stadium stage production—known as “Sofia”—in action, click:


Cigars, cars…and booze

LeMay America’s Car Museum and El Gaucho Tacoma are teaming up to put on “Cars & Cigars” on August 3.

The event combines:
– Tastings from Northwest wineries, distilleries and breweries
– Cigars
– LeMay’s cars
– El Gaucho appetizers

Cigars can be purchased with the ticket or at the event.
Or you can bring cigars with you.

Jason Aldean to play Tacoma Dome on Sept. 27

Country singer Jason Aldean brings his Night Train Tour 2013 to the Tacoma Dome for a Sept. 27 show. He’ll be sharing the evening with Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday at, all Ticketmaster outlets, or by phone at 800-745-3000.


Bon Jovi headed to Tacoma Dome for Oct. 5 show

UPDATE (June 4): Single, regular tickets that were orignially announced to go on sale on Saturday, June 8 will now go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, June 10.

Bon Jovi announced today that the Tacoma Dome is going to be a stop on its “Because We Can” tour on Oct. 5.

The band is offering all sorts of VIP packages – pricey additions but full of swag and backstage access. Check out their website for full details. VIP/backstage tickets for the Tacoma show go on sale at 10 a.m. on June 4.

Broadway Center announces 2013-14 season

The Broadway Center for the Performing Arts announced its 2013-14 season today. Member tickets and multi-show packages are on sale now with single ticket sales starting July 8.

The BCPA will be celebrating its 30th anniversary season with over 40 events coming to Tacoma’s Theater District.

Human-powered smoothies pedal in to farmers market

A Tacoma pair are running what you might call a zero emission smoothie business at the Broadway Farmers market.

At the downtown Tacoma market today I came across Camille Leinweber and Jake Hupp, both 20, who are selling blueberry-raspberry-banana 12 ounce smoothies for $5.

What makes their fledgling business, Pedal Puree, unique (at least in Tacoma) is that their blender and mode of transport to and from the market are entirely human-powered.

Hupp uses his bicycle to haul all the gear from their Tacoma home near the Emerald Queen Casino first to a commercial kitchen

Shyan Selah, Xola Malik, DJ Kaz, Monica-Crystal at Stonegate on Saturday

Local singer-songwriter Shyan Selah & The Republic of Sound headline a show at the Stonegate Pizza and Rum Bar on Saturday. Also appearing will be Xola Malik, DJ Kaz and Monica-Crystal.

Selah’s single, “Pink Butterfly,” is #144 on the Digital Radio Tracker Chart. It adds Selah’s vocals and beats to Nirvana’s “All Apologies.”

Malik, better known as Kid Sensation, was part of Sir Mix-A-Lot’s crew. KAZ’s resume includes hosting duties with Clear Channel, CBS, MOViN 92.5 and WARM 106.9. Monica-Crystal and The Beat Bandits blend rock, blues, jazz and R&B.
