Laugh for the cure on Saturday with a master impersonator

Former Las Vegas performer and current Puyallup resident Larry G Jones is a master of impersonations. He’s also a cancer survivor.

On Saturday he’ll perform in ‘Laugh Towards A Cure’ – a cancer benefit comedy show. Jones sings and acts his way through 75 superstar singers and celebrities in this family-friendly show.

From Cher to Willie Nelson to Sammy Davis, Jr. he covers an astonishing variety of performers in his one-man “Legendary Voices in Concert.” The 90-minute show will be held in the 300-seat indoor theater at Meridian Habitat Park.

Puyallup’s Konzelman brothers win ‘Escape Routes’

Expect to see two shiny new Ford Escapes on the streets of Puyallup soon. Drew and Derek Konzelman won NBC’s and Ford Motor Company’s “Escape Routes” tonight, earning them a $100,000 award and their own Ford Escapes.

“I just won a hundred thousand dollars and a new car!!,” Drew tweeted a few minutes ago.

“Escape Routes” was an hourlong, point-based reality competition series which had teams visiting six cities over 42 days in their 2013 Ford Escapes.

The Doobie Brothers added to fair line-up

The Puyallup Fair hasn’t yet finished filling in the gaps in their entertainment line-up. Veteran rockers The Doobie Brothers will be performing there on Sept. 19. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, April 28 at 10 a.m.

The group, with 16 albums and hit songs, “Black Water,” “What a Fool Believes,” “Real Love,” and “Long Train Running,” has been around since the 1970s. Though the band’s makeup (including Michael McDonald) has changed over the years founding members Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons are still the writers and lead vocalists for the group.

Train closes Puyallup Fair’s entertainment lineup

The Puyallup Fair announced today that Train will perform there on the fair’s final night, Sept. 23. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, April 28 at 10 a.m.

Train joins Willie Nelson, Martina McBride, TobyMac, Big Time Rush, Tim McGraw, Jeff Dunham and others in the star-studded lineup.

Train first rose to prominence with their single “Meet Virginia” but shot to chart topping status with “Drops of Jupiter.” After a three year hiatus this three-time Grammy Award winning group is back together. Last year Train lead singer Patrick Monahan performed with Tacoma singer Vicci Martinez on “The Voice.”

Puyallup’s Spring Fair starts on Thursday

Music-making and NASCAR are the themes of two new attractions at this weekend’s vernal version of the Puyallup Fair which swings open its gates at 2 p.m. Thursday.

While some of the action is happening only Friday through Sunday there are still plenty of reasons to head over on Thursday. First: admission is free all day to anyone 18 or younger. The Fair just asks that you bring a non-perishable food donation for the Puyallup Food Bank.

Puyallup musician brothers star in car-themed reality show ‘Escape Routes’

Product placement in television reaches a new level on Saturday when NBC and the Ford Motor Company team up for a reality show. And a brother team from Puyallup are among the cast members.

Washington Sportsmen’s Show starts today

The Washington Sportsmen’s Show, which bills itself as a one-stop shopping destination for hunters and anglers, begins today at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center. It runs through Sunday.

The show also provides a wealth of information through more than 150 how-to presentations and the chance to develop local contacts.

Are you tight with your family? Ever wanted to bring them on the long running game show “Family Feud?” Now’s your chance.
