Cheap Trick to play State Fair on Sept. 11

They still want you to want them. Venerable rockers Cheap Trick will play the Washington State Fair on Sept. 11. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Cheap Trick will perform two of their classic albums with an orchestra: At Budokan and Sgt. Pepper Live at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Tickets are $55, $45, $35, and $25 with reserved seating, and include Fair gate admission, unless noted. You can find tickets starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday on the fair’s website, www.thefair.com/concerts or by phone 888-559-FAIR (3247) daily, 7 a.m.

No maybe about it: Carly Rae Jepsen will play State Fair

Carly Rae Jepsen and Hot Chelle Rae will perform at the Washington State Fair on Sept. 20. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Jepsen, the singer behind “Call Me Maybe,” “Tonight Tonight,” and “I Like It Like That,” and double Platinum certified quartet Hot Chelle Rae will share the stage in Puyallup.

Alabama returns to Puyallup Fair on Sept. 16

Country powerhouse Alabama returns to the Washington State Fair for a Sept. 16 show. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on April 6.

Cee Lo Green and Carrie Underwood to heat up State Fair

Cee Lo Green and Carrie Underwood are the latest announced acts for the Washington State Fair in September. Tickets for both shows are now on sale. Green’s show will be on Thursday, Sept. 12 and Underwood will perform the following day.

Green was already well established in the music world with his hit “F— You” when he was made a coach on “The Voice.” There, he mentored Tacoma singer-songwriter Vicci Martinez to national stardom.

Country star Underwood got her start on another TV talent show: “American Idol.”

Two teen stars are coming to the Washington State Fair in September. Austin Mahone and Bridgit Mendler will perform on Sept. 21.

Little Big Town to ‘Bring It On Home’ at State Fair

Long-time country hit makers Little Big Town are coming to the Washington State Fair in Puyallup on Sept. 9. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

With hits like “Boondocks,” “Bring It On Home,” and “Pontoon” the group received a Grammy Award on February 10 for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

Puyallup’s SHEBEAR headed to EMP’s Sound Off finals

Puyallup-based pop band SHEBEAR will join The Fame Riot in EMP’s Sound Off! finals on March 2 after winning the second of three semifinal competitions last weekend.

Like The Fame Riot the band also took the audience favorite award.

That makes two Pierce County bands headed to the finals. Shogun Barbie competed but didn’t make it past the semi-finals and Gig Harbor’s I for Eye will compete on Saturday.

It’s time for pumpkin patches, haunted houses in South Sound

The weather might not be cooperating, but for those in search of a little seasonal fun, this weekend will see the opening of many pumpkin patches, corn mazes and haunted houses around Pierce and Thurston counties. So put on your muck boots and raingear and head out.
