Take a moment to recognize Memorial Day at the Arlington Northwest Memorial on display at Cummings Park, 2201 Ruston Way, Tacoma. The collection of symbolic grave markers will be hosted by Veterans for Peace Chapter 134 of Tacoma. It will also include recognition of civilian deaths in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as suicides of American servicemen. Admission is free to the public from dawn to dusk. Sponsors of the display created it as a nonpolitical display intended to inspire consideration on who pays and who profits from wars.

Immerse yourself in maritime history at Olympia Wooden Boat Fair this weekend. Wooden boats of all conditions, vintages and sizes will be on display throughout Percival Landing, 625 Columbia St. NW, Olympia. There also will be a kids’ boat-building booth today, entertainment, an international food alley, arts and crafts booths and other family friendly activities to enjoy. Justin Timberlake to bring 20/20 to KeyArena in 2014

You know a pop star is huge when he books KeyArena a year in advance. Justin Timberlake announced today that he’s bringing his 20/20 Experience to Seattle on May 17, 2014.

This marks the Grammy and Emmy Award-winning singer and actor’s first headlining tour in six years. It kicks off in October and will take him all over the world.

Timberlake also announced today that he will re-release his new album, The 20/20 Experience, on September 30, 2013.

Free comics books, alternative energy fair, native plant sales, nature walks and more events this weekend

It’s going to be a day of comics and “Star Wars” at the annual Free Comic Book Day, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Puyallup Public Library, 324 S. Meridian, Puyallup. Celebrating Star Wars Day, along with giving out free comic books (while supplies last), with astromech builder Cole Horton and his droid R2-M5. Bumbershoot 2013 will include Heart, Death Cab for Cutie, fun., and Vicci Martinez

The Northwest’s own Heart and Death Cab for Cutie will headline Seattle’s annual Bumbershoot festival this year. Bumbershoot takes over Seattle Center every Labor Day weekend and features concerts, literary events, art, comedy and more. This year’s festival runs Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

The festival’s music lineup, which was announced this morning, also includes fun., Vicci Martinez, MGMT, Kendrick Lamar, Bob Mould, Tegan & Sara, Icona Pop, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience, Eric Burdon & The Animals, and Bassnectar.

You might be surprised to learn that this is the first time Heart will play at its hometown music festival.
