Walk-through lets visitors get sneak peek of Spanaway’s Fantasy Lights

Usually you take in Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park from the warmth of your car.

But not today.

Visitors can preview the 18th annual Fantasy Lights during a walking preview from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Sunday, Nov. 18). It starts in the parking lot at Sprinker Recreation Center, where crowds will gather and then walk to the Spanaway Park entrance. Sprinker Recreation Center is at 14824 S. C St.

Coffee, cocoa and snacks will be available for purchase, organizers said.

Going to Freedom Fair today? Here are highlights and tips

The party that Tacoma throws for itself every Fourth of July –
Freedom Fair - begins in a few hours along Ruston Way.

Here are some highlights and tips:

Freedom Fair opens at 10 a.m.

Today’s airshow begins at 1:30 p.m. but most of the jets performing in the show will make a practice run starting at 11 a.m. Go early and you’ll have two airshows in one day.

Run for your life – the zombies are coming


UPDATE: Race organizers have now moved back the race registration deadline to Aug. 1.

Zombies seem to be everywhere these days – both in entertainment and in the news (don’t ask.) Now, they’re even showing up at fun runs.

Journey, Pat Benatar, Loverboy headed to the Gorge

It’s going to be a 70s love fest when Journey joins Pat Benatar and Loverboy at the Gorge Amphitheater on July 28. Tickets go on sale Saturday.

In the 70s and 80s it was nearly impossible to turn on a radio without hearing Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” Loverboy’s “Working For The Weekend” or any number of chart-topping hits from Journey.

The Washington Sportsmen’s Show, which bills itself as a one-stop shopping destination for hunters and anglers, begins today at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center. It runs through Sunday.
