Hell’s Kitchen will be reborn as The Loch’s

The space that held longtime nightclub Hell’s Kitchen will reopen on Friday, Sept. 7 as The Loch’s.

I spoke with new owner and former Hell’s Kitchen booker Lonnie Reed today. He said The Loch’s will feature a wider spectrum of acts than its predecessor.

“We wanted to do something more welcoming – to any genre of music,” Reed said.

Hell’s Kitchen closed its doors at 928 Pacific Ave. in late June when its four owners could not financially sustain the business. It had been a fixture on the Tacoma music scene for 10 years.

Hell’s Kitchen will have one final blowout on Sunday

Can you really shut down Hell?

That’s what Pat Dawson is pondering today. He’s one of the four owners of downtown Tacoma nightclub Hell’s Kitchen that announced yesterday it’s closing.

I spoke with Dawson this afternoon. He’s morose, of course, but there’s still some fight left in him.

In late 2009 the popular Tacoma rock club relocated to 928 Pacific Avenue in downtown Tacoma after seven

The Beautiful Mothers and DJ Macky Ramone at Hell’s Kitchen

It’s not every day that a new Ramone gets christened. But that’s what happened to Yokohama, Japan DJ Macky after a gig in Tacoma in 2006.

Drummer Marky Ramone (the last living member of the lineup most remember as the seminal punk band the Ramones) was the main attraction at a June 16, 2006 show at Hell’s Kitchen. As the story goes, Marky was so taken with the Japanese performer’s DJ’ing skills he named Macky an official Ramone.

And now on May 6 DJ Macky Ramone is back at Hell’s Kitchen.

Macky will be performing with garage punk band
