LeMay America’s Car Museum and El Gaucho Tacoma are teaming up to put on “Cars & Cigars” on August 3.

The event combines:
– Tastings from Northwest wineries, distilleries and breweries
– Cigars
– LeMay’s cars
– El Gaucho appetizers

Cigars can be purchased with the ticket or at the event.
Or you can bring cigars with you.

Historical home tour, garden tour, classical music, Pac. Ave. street fair, jazz and more events this weekend

SATURDAY

It’s community tour day with a variety to choose from on Saturday.

Discover the history of Washington’s oldest town and tour six homes built between 1858-1895. Sponsored by Steilacoom Historical Museum Association, the tour is from 1-5 p.m. Saturday. Kal Penn to narrate ‘Fantastic Journey’ at the Paramount

You might know actor Kal Pann as cinematic stoner Kumar or, in real life, as an Obama adiministration director. On June 6 he takes on the role of narrator when he takes the stage at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre for the West Coast Premiere of “Icarus at the Edge of Time.”

Penn is joining the Seattle Science Festival as the narrator for the opening night’s performance of the multimedia work.

Penn is perhaps best known for playing the role of Kumar in the “Harold and Kumar” film series. He also portrayed Dr. Kutner in TV’s “House.” Penn left acting

Broadway Center announces 2013-14 season

The Broadway Center for the Performing Arts announced its 2013-14 season today. Member tickets and multi-show packages are on sale now with single ticket sales starting July 8.

The BCPA will be celebrating its 30th anniversary season with over 40 events coming to Tacoma’s Theater District.

Human-powered smoothies pedal in to farmers market

A Tacoma pair are running what you might call a zero emission smoothie business at the Broadway Farmers market.

At the downtown Tacoma market today I came across Camille Leinweber and Jake Hupp, both 20, who are selling blueberry-raspberry-banana 12 ounce smoothies for $5.

What makes their fledgling business, Pedal Puree, unique (at least in Tacoma) is that their blender and mode of transport to and from the market are entirely human-powered.

Wooden boat fair, women in comedy, beer festival and more happenings this weekend

Immerse yourself in maritime history at Olympia Wooden Boat Fair this weekend. Wooden boats of all conditions, vintages and sizes will be on display throughout Percival Landing, 625 Columbia St. NW, Olympia.
