If you’re a fan of rare and collectible cars you’ll have three chances to see them (or bring yours) to Gig Harbor this summer.

First up is “Wheels on the Water” – part of the annual Maritime Gig Festival on Sunday, June 2 from 12:30-4 p.m. This classic car “park-in” venue will be held in downtown Gig Harbor along Harborview Drive from Rosedale Street to Pioneer Way. Gig Harbor Street Scramble returns May 25

The annual Gig Harbor Street Scramble will take over the city’s downtown on May 25.

A street scramble is an urban adventure run, walk or bike ride.

The free event starts at 10 a.m. at Skansie Brothers Park (3207 Harborview Drive) in historic downtown Gig Harbor.

This Street Scramble is the largest in North America and the only free one in the greater Puget Sound region. Pre-registration is encouraged. The first 200 to pre-register receive a t-shirt. Registration will also be available at the event but t-shirts are not guaranteed.

Subaru PUMA Rallycross team comes to Subaru of Puyallup Friday, Saturday

Subaru of Puyallup will host the Subaru PUMA Rallycross team Friday and Saturday. The team from Vermont SportsCar will be on-site with their interactive display to share with casual fans and hardcore enthusiasts.

The display features a Dave Mirra No. 40 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Rallycross car and
a customized trailer featuring SPT parts, rally videos and Subaru rally related information. The show car features the new graphic scheme of the recently launched RallyCross Team, which competes in the Global RallyCross Championship.

It’s been on a four year hiatus but now LouieFest, the rock and roll music and art festival, is back with a bang. The weekend features a power house trio of iconic 1960s rock bands: The Sonics, The Wailers and Moby Grape.

The weekend kicks off on Friday with The Sonics at the Pantages Theater and LouieFest takes over the outdoor spaces at Tacoma’s newest attraction: LeMay-America’s Car Museum on Saturday and Sunday.

Despite rumors, Tacoma singer Vicci Martinez will not be performing, her manager told me last night. (Martinez performed last there last year fresh off her third place finish on “The Voice.”)

LouieFest returns to Tacoma – at LeMay

It’s been on a four year hiatus but now LouieFest, the rock and roll music and art festival, is back and it’s coming to Tacoma’s newest attraction: LeMay – America’s Car Museum July 28-29.

Forty bands on four outdoor stages will make up the entertainment during the two day festival.

Highlights include:

– Moby Grape

- Tacoma’s The Fabulous Wailers, who first recorded “Louie Louie.”

- 1,000 guitar sing-along to “Louie Louie.” Bring your own guitar and play with the pros.

Puyallup’s Spring Fair starts on Thursday

Music-making and NASCAR are the themes of two new attractions at this weekend’s vernal version of the Puyallup Fair which swings open its gates at 2 p.m. Thursday.

While some of the action is happening only Friday through Sunday there are still plenty of reasons to head over on Thursday. First: admission is free all day to anyone 18 or younger. The Fair just asks that you bring a non-perishable food donation for the Puyallup Food Bank.

“This is the best day ever,” actress Lea Thompson said as she stepped out of a DeLorean behind the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle Saturday night. A fleet of 22 more DeLoreans surrounded her. “They’ve had babies,” she said.
