The Northwest’s own Heart and Death Cab for Cutie will headline Seattle’s annual Bumbershoot festival this year. Bumbershoot takes over Seattle Center every Labor Day weekend and features concerts, literary events, art, comedy and more. This year’s festival runs Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

The festival’s music lineup, which was announced this morning, also includes fun., Vicci Martinez, MGMT, Kendrick Lamar, Bob Mould, Tegan & Sara, Icona Pop, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience, Eric Burdon & The Animals, and Bassnectar.

You might be surprised to learn that this is the first time Heart will play at its hometown music festival. The new Rock and Roll Hame of Fame inductees will rock Seattle Center on Saturday, Aug. 31.

Death Cab for Cutie, which formed in Bellingham in 1997, will play its 2003 album “Transatlanticism” in its entirety in a show on Sunday, Sept. 1. This will be Death Cab’s second time performing at Bumbershoot.

And fun., who won big at the Grammy Awards in February and has dominated the charts with hits “Some Nights” and “We Are Young,” will also perform Sunday, Sept. 1, at the festival.

Tacoma’s own Vicci Martinez is also slated for Sept. 1 show at Bumbershoot.

You can check out the full music lineup here. The comedy, film and additional artists will be announced later this summer. Tickets are already on sale. You can find complete ticket information — from single-day tickets to three-day VIP passes — here.
