Renton hip-hop group Dave B bested Puyallup’s SHEBEAR for the top prize at EMP Museum’s 12th annual Sound Off! competition last weekend. Tacoma’s glam duo The Fame Riot came in third at the competition for musicians aged 21 and under. Bothell-based indie pop band As It Starts came in fourth and won the award for Audience Favorite.

Dave B will perform at the 2013 Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival. SHEBEAR will be in the lineup for this year’s Northwest Folklife Festival and at Catapult Fest in Anacortes.

All four finalist bands also received gear, studio time, radio airplay, and one-on-one consultations with music industry professionals
