Tacoma and the South Sound churn out reality TV contestants at a numbing pace. From Vicci Martinez on “The Voice” to Nellie Veitenheimer on “The Glee Project” to “Cupcakes Wars” and “Survivor” and shows about Ford Escapes and looking-for-love bachelors.
Tacoma’s latest TV star wannabe, Genevive, will be one of 11 contestants vying to be “King of the Nerds” on TBS. The show premiers tonight.
According to her bio on the TBS site Genevive is obsessed with Batman, can’t decide if she likes math or science better and has a dog named Marty McFly. Her mother told her she was a nerd at age six but that it was a good thing.
The show is hosted by Curtis Armstrong (who can forget Booger?) and Robert Carradine, two of the stars of the 1984 film “Revenge of the Nerds” and its sequels.
The show is a typical elimination style set-up with the remaining contestant taking home $100,000.
The New York Times said Genevive is the contestant that comes the closest to actually being funny. So, here’s hoping she makes it all the way and puts Tacoma on the nerd map.
