Lady Gaga’s Born Brave Bus headed to Tacoma

Picture 1The Lady Gaga concert is only hours away but you can catch the bus early. We’re talking about her Born Brave Bus, soon to be parked in the Tacoma Dome parking lot.

Covered in fan-generated artwork the bus is part of Gaga’s U.S. Born This Way Ball tour. It’s the rolling, physical embodiment of her Born This Way Foundation that’s meant to inspire bravery and promote self-acceptance.

The bus provides an interactive “tailgate” experience that connects youth with local resources in their communities including behavioral and mental health services, school psychologists, mentoring, volunteer opportunities and bullying and suicide prevention resources.

There’s no actual counseling on site. Instead, youth will be directed to local professional organizations that can provide them with needed services, Gaga’s people say.

The list (below) seems to be mostly national organizations but I know that Gaga’s people have reached out to at least one local group: Oasis, the local LGBT drop-in youth center, will have representatives there.

WHEN: 4-7:30 p.m. today
WHERE: Tacoma Dome Parking Lot, 2727 E. D Street, Tacoma
WHO: Partner organizations that will be on site include Campus Pride, GLSEN, Hive & YOUMedia, the National Association of School Psychologists, the National Council for Behavioral Health, MENTOR, Mentoring USA, The Trevor Project and YSA (Youth Service America).
