Today at 11 a.m. the Tacoma Dome swings open its doors for the 30th Annual Tacoma Holiday Food & Gift Festival. The event runs through Sunday.

With more than 600 exhibits it’s the largest holiday event on the West Coast. Yes, we’re still in October but I suppose you can’t start selling holiday items too soon.

Vendors will be offering arts and crafts, gifts, seasonal decorations and gourmet foods.

Here are some highlights:

“Cooking for the Holidays” showcases local chefs, culinary schools and restaurants. This event features culinary artists sharing recipes and special techniques to help you create delicious holiday fare. Dine Northwest radio program (KLAY AM 1180) kicks off the show Wednesday, October 17th broadcasting live from the cooking stage. Culinary Ambassador Keith Jones hosts this popular event See demonstrations from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, Stanley & Seafort’s, Johnny’s Dock, Adriatic Grill and Farrelli’s Wood Fire Pizza. See the show’s website for the full schedule.

Visit the Festival Food Market where you can savor an affordable variety of dining options.

Enjoy live family entertainment throughout the show, including: Youth Choirs of Northwest Associated Arts, Dance Theatre Northwest, Aria Dance Company, Dancemakers and Eatonville Dance Center.

Revel in the “Artists in Action” Village featuring over 50 artists demonstrating their skills and making one-of-a-kind wood carvings, fiber art, stained glass, pottery, jewelry and more.

Bring the kids for a picture with a real bearded Santa in authentic attire.
