Josh Lucas has starred in movies ranging from romantic comedy “Sweet Home Alabama” to action drama “Stealth.” Now, the Gig Harbor High School graduate is coming home for the Gig Harbor Film Festival and he’s bringing a special film with him.
The Hollywood star and New York City resident is a 1989 grad of G.H.H.S and starred in this year’s “The Firm” series on NBC. He’ll be taking time off from his current movie, a drama being filmed in Virginia, to be this year’s celebrity guest at the festival on Thursday, Oct. 18. The festival runs through Oct. 21.
Lucas will be showing the feature “Red Dog.” It was filmed in Australia and released in 2011. It’s become one of the most popular films ever made Down Under, Lucas told me. I saw the film this week and it’s terrific.
I spoke with Lucas Thursday morning. We talked about growing up in Gig Harbor, his family and career, getting acting advice from George C. Scott, a mugging in NYC, his love of dogs and a whole lot more. My interview with him will run in The News Tribune in October.
A question-and-answer session with Lucas will follow the screening at Galaxy Theaters at Uptown Gig Harbor. A reception with music and appetizers will follow at Canterwood Golf and Country Club. Tickets are $75 each.
