It’s a flashback to an old tradition, Soap Box Derby. It’s been revived right here and will take over Electron Way tomorrow for Fircrest Derby Days.
It’s the group’s second year putting on the family friendly race that challenges kids to build and race their own gravity cars. Check out all the work, including elaborate paint jobs, car design and good old-fashioned competition starting at 10 a.m.
Electron Way, between Alameda and Spring, will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. to set up the course. Parking is on the surrounding streets. There will be a minimum of three runs for each car leading up to semifinal and final races; a full day of racing.
