‘Star Trek’s’ Patrick Stewart ‘makes it so’ with ECCC appearance

Emerald City Comicon, the annual pop culture extravaganza, promises to keep getting bigger and better. Today they are making it so with the announcement of Patrick Stewart as one of the headlining guests for 2013.

Stewart played the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the 1980s-90s reboot of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” More recently he played the role of Dr. Charles Xavier in the “X-Men” films.

The 2012 Vans Warped Tour, originally scheduled to play King County’s Marymoor Park in Redmond on Saturday, has been moved to the White River Amphitheatre.

It’s the same day and time (11:30 a.m.) and the line up remains unchanged. Tickets already purchased for the Marymoor show will be honored at the White River Amphitheatre show. You can still get tickets at www.vanswarpedtour.com. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Newly minted porn star Nadya “Octomom” Suleman to appear in Tacoma on Friday

Nadya Suleman, the woman who gained fame when she gave birth to eight babies in 2009, is now an adult film actor. On Friday the “Octomom” will appear at Castle Megastore to herald the release of her first adult DVD, “Octomom: Home Alone.”

This marks the first adult video Suleman has made. I guess when you have 14 mouths to feed you really need to get creative. Then again, Suleman is the poster girl for Bad Decision Making.

In 2009 Suleman set the image of in vitro fertilization back to the stone age when she gave birth to the octuplets.

Mega ukulele jam at Proctor Farmers Market Aug. 4

It seems like everyone I know has suddenly picked up the ukulele. There are uke classes, orgs, bands and jams.

I hosted a beach party the other day and suddenly there was a ukulele session at the campfire. My puzzled Mexican cousin-in-law observed, “That is a strange Mariachi band.”

If you are a uker don’t miss Mega Uke Tacoma 2012 – Tacoma’s Biggest Ukulele Jam on Saturday, August 4 at the Proctor Farmers Market in Tacoma.

Hosted by WASSUP (Washington Association of South Sound Ukulele Players) it promises “two hours of ukulele fun with 100 of your new best friends!”
