We know Taste of Tacoma is the big event this weekend but here are a few events that might not be on your radar:
It’s festival time of the year, these local ones have all the vendors, music, food, and activities you would expect:

Community Events

Freighthouse Square Block Party Celebration of the re-opening of the central section 10 a.m.-7 p.m. June 29-30, Freighthouse Square, East 25th and East D streets, Tacoma. Free,

Clean fun dancing at the Contra Dance featuring live fiddle music; Singles, couples, no partner needed, alcohol and smoke-free, 7:30-11 p.m. June 30, Wells Hall, 310 N. K St., Tacoma. $8, 65-plus, and 18 and younger, $5. 206-722-8228,

Watch as competitive bikers take over the Proctor District at the Tacoma Twilight Criterium 2012 cycling races, 4:30-9 p.m. June 30, Proctor District, North 26th and Proctor, Tacoma. Free.

There’s nothing like a rose, so how about hundreds of them? Check out the Tacoma Rose Society Annual Rose Show 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. June 30, Jackson Hall, 314 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Tacoma. Free.
