Jackie Evancho
The pint-sized opera diva Jackie Evancho will perform with The Tacoma Symphony at the Puyallup Fair on Sept. 15. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on June 2.

If you were watching “America’s Got Talent” in 2010 your jaw probably hit the ground like mine did when the 10 year old and then unknown Evancho opened her mouth. She has the pipes and command of a woman twice her age.

Evancho wasn’t the winner of that season’s AGT. That was Michael Grimm. Yeah, I know…Michael who?

Meanwhile, Evancho has made Platinum and Gold records and just been cast in a Robert Redford film. The cross-over soprano, now 12, sings opera, pop and show tunes.

Get your tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show on the Fair website, www.thefair.com/concerts or by phone 888-559-3247, daily, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. To save the convenience charges, purchase tickets in person at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center box office at 9th Avenue SW and Meridian Street on Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Golden Circle tickets are $85, with other tickets selling at $65, $55, $45 and $25. All are reserved seating, and include Fair gate admission.

More on Jackie Evancho from the press release:

Little did Jackie Evancho and her parents know that when they submitted a video of the 10-year-old girl singing for a slot on “America’s Got Talent” that she would become an overnight success! She is now the recipient of Platinum and Gold records, as well as capturing the music industry’s attention.

That video she posted on YouTube was her second audition with “America’s Got Talent.” The first time she performed in person in Philadelphia, the producers passed on her. When the show opened up YouTube auditions, Jackie’s father Mike decided to post an audition piece, then forgot about it. She became an instant favorite of fans, earning the most votes, capturing the twelfth contestant spot in the show’s fifth season.

In 18 short months Jackie’s soprano voice, complete with perfect pitch and diction and classical phrasing, won her fans and record-breaking sales. She recorded one EP of “O Holy Night,” which was released in November 2010. It became the year’s #1 best-selling debut recording with sales exceeding one million copies, rocketing to #2 on the Billboard 200. The EP sales and charting secured her position as the year’s top-selling debut artist as well as the youngest female solo artist to debut during the SoundScan era. The song also reached #1 on Billboard’s Classical Chart, and #2 on the Billboard Holiday Chart.

In June 2011, her first studio album, Dream With Me was released, offering fans a mix of operatic arias, show tunes and pop standards. The album debuted on the Billboard Top 200 chart at #2, and was certified Gold after only four weeks. When PBS aired Dream With Me In Concert on their Great Performances series, it instantly became one of their most broadcast programs of the year. Her second album, Heavenly Christmas was released in Nov. 2011 and was again an immediate success.

Jackie recently accepted a new role, as an actress. She has been selected to play Robert Redford’s daughter in “The Company You Keep,” a political thriller that Redford will direct and produce. The star-studded cast also includes Susan Sarandon, Shia LeBeouf, Terrance Howard, Anna Kendrick, Nick Nolte and Stanley Tucci.
