It seems like I can’t open my email anymore without getting a notice about a local appearing on a reality TV show. Last year we had Tacomans Vicci Martinez on “The Voice” and special effects artist Marcel Banks on “Face-Off.” Earlier this year Parkland cupcake baker Amber Serrano was on “Cupcake Wars.”
Currently, Alex Porter, 13, of Graham, and Bailey Anderson, 15, of Tacoma are competing on “America’s Best Dance Crew” on MTV and Puyallup brothers Drew and Derek Konzelman are driving their Ford Escapes on NBC’s “Escape Routes.”
The two teens and their crew, Rated Next Generation, survived last night’s eliminations. It was “kick off the foreigners night” on the show (not really) when Irratik (of Canada) and Funkdation (of Mexico) were sent packing. RNG is the youngest of the group’s performing and what they lack in experience and polish is made up for with enthusiasm and energy.
Things are a little different over on NBC. There are no eliminations – just the racking up of points. The Konzelmans and their fellow teams have been having a lot of interesting challenges and adventures. Last week they were forced to go alligator and snake hunting in the Everglades. The show airs again this Saturday with the finale on May 5.
Both shows require votes from the public so if you’re a fan get busy.
