George Takei leads star-studded roster at Emerald City Comicon

It all starts tomorrow: Three days of pop culture fandemonium at Emerald City Comicon.

All weekend I’ll be blogging from ECCC and on Sunday I’ll interview James and Oliver Phelps on stage at 1 p.m. They’re the Weasley twins from the “Harry Potter” films.

Puyallup musician brothers star in car-themed reality show ‘Escape Routes’

Product placement in television reaches a new level on Saturday when NBC and the Ford Motor Company team up for a reality show. And a brother team from Puyallup are among the cast members.

“Escape Routes” is an hour-long point-based competitive reality series which has teams visiting six cities in their 2013 Ford Escapes.

Roller derby season starts Saturday

Strap on your skates: The Dockyard Dames are gearing up for their season opener on Saturday.

Tacoma’s not-for-profit roller derby league, Dockyard Derby Dames, are heading to the track at Pierce College. They’re calling their sixth season opener “a night of rivalries, rematches and retribution.” What more could you ask for from roller derby?

Saturday’s double header starts off with the Marauding Mollys battling season 5 champions The Trampires. Following that the Hellbound Homewreckers take on the Femme Fianna.

Aerosmith and Cheap Trick to play Tacoma Dome

Aerosmith and Cheap Trick are coming to the Tacoma Dome for an August 8 show. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Start stocking up on your hair feather accessories. Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and the rest of one of America’s longest running and hardest partying rock bands will be playing an 8 p.m. show. It’s the final stop on their Global Warming Tour.

“The old Aerosmith is back with a new vengeance and we will kick your ass and make out with your mothers,” Steven Tyler said in today’s announcement.

Jeff Dunham will perform at Puyallup Fair

Comedic ventriloquist Jeff Dunham had barely left Tacoma last weekend before he booked a return trip to Pierce County. Dunham will perform at the Puyallup Fair on September 20.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Dunham and his cast of characters remain enormously popular. His show last weekend at the Tacoma Dome was sold out weeks in advance. So, don’t delay getting your tickets for the fair show.

Jason Momoa replaces Katee Sackhoff at Emerald City Comicon

UPDATE: Read what Jason Momoa had to say about “Game of Thrones” and his acting career at last weekend’s Emerald City Comicon.

“Game of Thrones” and “Conan the Barbarian” star Jason Momoa is the latest celebrity guest announced for next week’s Emerald City Comicon in Seattle.

Momoa is replacing Katee Sackhoff (“Battlestar Galactica”) who had to cancel her appearance at ECCC due to filming conflicts with her latest movie, “Chronicles of Riddick 3.”

Momoa, who rose to fame on “Baywatch” and later starred in “Stargate: Atlantis,” will now be appearing all weekend.
