“Warehouse 13″ actor Eddie McClintock reveals he is recovering alcoholic

Eddie McClintock’s character on the Syfy show “Warehouse 13″ mirrors his real life in at least one aspect. Both are recovering alcoholics.

“I have 12 years of sobriety,” McClintock said Saturday at Emerald City Comicon in Seattle. It was the first time he revealed his alcoholism publicly, he said during a fan panel.

When he gave up drinking he thought, “Oh my God, the party’s over. But it’s just as fun. I can wake up without a headache and work and not apologize.”

McClintock also has been on “Sex and the City,” “Friends,” “Just Shoot Me,” “Desperate Housewives” and

Jason Momoa doesn’t mind being typecast

Jason Momoa has made a career out of playing big, tough bad ass characters. The star of “Game of Thrones,” “Conan the Barbarian” and “Stargate Atlantis” said that’s OK with him Saturday at Emerald City Comicon.

“You can typecast me. I like playing those characters.”

He won’t be returning as Khal Drogo in the next season of “Thrones,” of course, but he said he’s seen the second season opener and, “You guys are going to love it.”

Momoa said he spent a great deal of time learning the language he spoke in “Thrones.” That involved many days in

Syfy launches a hot steaming pile of goo at Seattle

The Syfy network debuts its latest feature tonight: “Seattle Superstorm.” No, it’s not the Sue Bird story. It’s a science-fiction movie about a UFO-induced storm that socks it to Seattle.

I watched a preview of it yesterday at Emerald City Comicon. I’m still left wondering exactly why Syfy chose to show it in Seattle. I guess they figured Seattle folk would be on the edge of their seats as the drama unfolded.

Instead the crowd laughed at the cheap special effects, the geographical errors, the (unintentional) comedic dialogue and the hammy acting.

But I can’t blame the actors.

“Falling Skies” actors and showrunner reveal next season’s secrets at Comicon

The showrunner and two actors from the hit TNT alien invasion series “Falling Skies” kicked off Emerald City Comicon’s fan panels Friday.

Actors Drew Roy and Colin Cunningham and Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon said the two-hour June 17 premier for season two will take place three months after Tom (Noah Wyle) stepped aboard the alien spacecraft.

“This is a dark season, you guys. It’s wicked and bad ass and you’re in for a treat,” Cunningham said. He added that viewers are going to see inside the alien ship. “It’s not anything you can imagine.”

“We don’t know what

Edible books, lovely gardens, music, arts and more this weekend and beyond

Today
It’s going to be a fanciful mix of literary arts and food from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. today at the Edible Book Festival. There are few restrictions in creating an edible book – namely that it’s made of food and is inspired by a book. Check it out at the University of Puget Sound Collins Memorial Library, North 18th Street and North Union Avenue, Tacoma. It’s free. For more information, go to pugetsound.edu/academics/academic-resources/collins-memorial-library/edible-books.

Wednesday-September
Lakewold Gardens
is opening for the season Wednesday. The Washington historic landmark designed by landscape architect Thomas Church features gardens with

Jon Bernthal of “The Walking Dead” on why he hates zombies

Emerald City Comicon starts today. There’s just too much going on there to list it all here. Read my interview with AMC’s “The Walking Dead” actor Jon Bernthal here. We talk about what it was like to film his final scene, his new projects, his misguided youth and why he hates zombies in real life.

Yesterday, we posted my interview with George Takei.

They are just two of the many media celebrities attending ECCC this weekend in Seattle. I’ll have more posts coming. Stay tuned.
