Gospel music will fill the Tacoma Elks Lodge on Saturday for a Combined Community Choir event.

Organizer Centell Jackson said choirs include Mt. Calvary COGIC Church Choir and Praise Dancers, IPAW Ministries (International Praise and Worship), Turning Point Youth Ministry and opening performers Tyreasha Willis and Treonna Simmons.

The event is titled, “Taking Back What the Enemy Has Stolen.” Jackson said the enemy is divisiveness and this event promotes solidarity and unity. “We can be closer as a people and have a better relationship,” he told me.

Any funds left over will help defray the expenses of the annual gospel choir performances at Tacoma’s First Night, Jackson says. “I just want to do some good things in the community.”
