Free Tuesday concerts on American Lake

The City of Lakewood is sponsoring a free concert series at American Lake Park. From a gently sloping lawn (bring your chairs or blankets) you’ll be able to hear a wide variety of music through mid-August. Tonight’s concert will be the finals for a local talent competition.

And if the entertainment’s not what you expected? No problem, there’s a swimming area just below the stage. A concessionaire will also be on site during the concerts.

Concerts are held Tuesdays (except for August 2).

Performance highlights include:
- Golden Band of the West’s rock ensemble, Mobility, from Travis Air Force Base in California.
- The Seattle-based Blues Brothers Revue (authentic Chicago blues music)
- David Correa and Cascada, performing the gypsy rhythms of Spain, Mexico and Central America with a fusion of Latin Guitar and Nouveau Flamenco.

Today: “Lakewood’s Brightest Star”
July 26: Golden Band of the West – Mobility
August 9: Blues Brothers Revue
August 16: David Correa & Cascada

Concerts are 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at American Lake Park, 9222 Veterans Dr. S.W., Lakewood.
