Vicci Martinez feels the love…and vindication

I just got off the phone with Tacoma’s own Vicci Martinez. She literally had just come off the stage at “The Voice” but had a few seconds to tell me what it felt like to advance to the top eight.

Martinez was justifiably excited by her win but she also felt a feeling of vindication.

“It was just pretty unreal. In the past I’ve been told I’m just not right (by industry types). I need to be this and be that…To have America vote for me…(I can say) You guys are wrong.”

Martinez closed the show tonight with a performance of “Dogs Days Are Over” by Florence and the Machine. Dressed in white and her hair in a striking bouffant-mohawk Martinez displayed her typical high energy in another knock-out performance.

“I thought tonight was so cool. They let me close the show,” Martinez told me.

Judge Adam Levine called it the, “Coolest performance of the night.” Fellow judge Blake Shelton said, “It’s like somebody put gas on the stage and threw a lit match.”

We’ll be talking again tomorrow night when she (hopefully) makes it into the top four. Stay tuned and don’t forget to vote by 7 a.m. Wednesday.
