Fleet of DeLoreans to take Christopher Lloyd ‘Back to the Future’ at ECCC

I don’t know if it will have a flux capacitor but Christopher Lloyd will be taking a DeLorean when he screens “Back to the Future” at Emerald City Comicon in March.

Lloyd played Doctor Emmett Brown in the 1985 film. He will participate in a Q & A before the one-time screening at SIFF Cinema’s Uptown Theatre at 9 p.m. on March 31 after arriving there in a fleet of DeLoreans.

The event is a partnership with ECCC and the Seattle International Film Festival.

‘Beauty and The Beast’ opener postponed

Tonight’s opening night of Disney’s “Beauty and The Beast” at The Paramount Theatre has been postponed due to weather, Seattle Theatre Group just announced.

Here’s the full statement:

Due to unforeseen weather circumstances in Snoqualmie and Stevens Pass, the Opening Night of our Seattle engagement of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast, has been postponed. The performance has been re-scheduled for Monday, February 27th, 7:30PM at The Paramount Theatre. Tickets from tonight’s performance will be valid and honored at Monday’s performance for the same seat locations. All other scheduled performances will proceed as planned.

Florence + the Machine set for July show at White River Amphitheatre

Indie rock-pop band Florence + the Machine announced today that it will make a stop this summer at White River Amphitheatre in Auburn.

The Grammy-nominated group, known for its hits “Dog Days are Over” and “Shake It Out,” will perform at 8 p.m. July 21. Tickets for the show go on sale 10 a.m. Friday (Feb. 24) through Live Nation. According to LiveNation’s website, tickets will cost $29.50-$49.50.

What is the cost of compassion?

Is there a limit, and more importantly, a price to pay when it comes to compassion? Those are some of the questions raised in a Pacific Lutheran University MediaLab documentary, “Overexposed: The Cost of Compassion.”

The film explores the complexities of “compassion fatigue,” a condition that affects care givers and those repeatedly exposed to tragedy and trauma like police officers and firefighters.

After nearly a year of research and filming the student filmmakers premiered the film in Seattle in fall of 2011. They’re hosting a screening at PLU on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
