Corban University names new president

Sheldon C. Nord became the tenth president of Corban University this month, succeeding  Reno Hoff, who served from 1999 to 2013.

Corban is based in Salem, Ore. but also has a campus in Tacoma. It is an independent Christian university with more than 50 majors and programs of study including professional, liberal arts, and ministry.

Nord served as Vice President of Admissions at Corban, 1990-93 and as a member of the Board of Trustees, 2001-2011.

His education includes a B.S. in social science from Corban,  a master’s degree in college student services administration from Oregon State University and a Ph.D. in higher education from Indiana University. He has also done post-doctoral work at Harvard University’s Institute for Higher Education.

Nord’s family includes his wife, Jamie, and daughter, Hannah, who is a Corban alumna.
