CLEARED: Westbound SR 16, overpass closed at Olympic Drive NW after semi hit bridge

Westbound state Route 16 reopened just after 8 p.m. after being closed for nearly seven hours at Olympic Drive Northwest when a semitrailer crashed into the overpass there this afternoon.

The truck with an oversized load lodged itself under the bridge and spread concrete debris across the road about 1:15 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.

Crews had to chip away damaged concrete and inspect the overpass before reopening the road below, though traffic could get through on the right shoulder during part of the closure, WSDOT spokeswoman Claudia Bingham Baker said.

CLEARED: Crash on southbound I-5 blocking right three lanes in Milton

UPDATE as of 11 p.m. All lanes have been cleared, according to WSDOT.

INITIAL POST: A crash that happened  about 8 :15 p.m. on southbound Interstate 5 in Milton is blocking the right three lanes of the freeway just south of Porter Way, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The State Patrol is on the scene.

Lakewood I-5 crash this afternoon causes near 10-mile backups, injures 2

A crash Thursday afternoon at Berkeley Street Southwest on southbound Interstate 5 injured two people and caused a backup of almost 10 miles in both directions on the freeway, according to the state Department of Transportation and the State Patrol.

All lanes of southbound I-5 were blocked just before 1:30 p.m. when a semitrailer hit the left barrier of the freeway, deputies said. A car braked to avoid the truck, but ran into it after being rear-ended by a motorhome, according to the State Patrol.

The cause was still under investigation.
