Authorities ask for public’s help to find man they say ran from court house, after verdict was read for charge that he previously eluded police

Authorities are asking for the public’s help to find a man who they say fled the courthouse in downtown Tacoma last week after his verdict was read.

Leroy Scott,  33, was in Pierce County Superior Court Wednesday, after he was charged with attempting to elude a police vehicle and third-degree driving while in suspended or revoked status.

He was out on $10,000 bail at the time.

When his verdict was read, Scott struggled with an officer who tried to detain him and fled the courthouse, Pierce County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jerry Bates said.

Scott is described as a 6-foot-1, 210-pound

Fife police contact, arrest man after comment made at public meeting

A man who said during the public speaking portion of the Fife City Council meeting Tuesday that he could “access money faster than anyone” going to an ATM was later arrested, Fife police said Wednesday.

The comment concerned those at the meeting, prompting officers to contact the man later in a nearby park after the gathering, police said.

It turned out the man had a misdemeanor warrant for theft out of Seattle, another out of Chehalis, and a felony warrant for probation violation out of Orgeon, police said.
