Pierce County prosecutors charged a 26-year-old Tacoma man with vehicular homicide, alleging he was intoxicated Saturday afternoon when he caused a crash that killed a Shoreline motorcyclist near Elbe.

Richard J. Hohn pleaded not guilty during his arraignment this afternoon on vehicular homicide and driving with a suspended  license. He was ordered held in Pierce County  Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.  Hohn had a suspended license because of a prior DUI-related case, prosecutors report.

Ernest E. Geer, 33, was killed in the crash Saturday afternoon on state Route 7, just outside of Elbe.

Pierce County prosecutors filed charges today against a 47-year-old man accused of hitting and killing a teenage girl Wednesday night in Milton.

Robert V. Mitzel has been charged with vehicular homicide and failure to remain at the scene of an accident resulting in a death. He’s scheduled for a bail return hearing this afternoon in Pierce County Superior Court.

Kelsey Parrett, 15, was struck as she walked with a friend about 9 p.m. Wednesday on 15th Avenue in Milton. She died early Thursday of her injuries at Madigan Army Medical Center.

The jury has begun it deliberations in the trial of a former Tacoma firefighter charged in a deadly crash last year.

The prosecutor and Joseph Mondau’s defense attorney delivered closing arguments Thursday. The jury got the case about 3 p.m. and will resume deliberations at 1:30 p.m. today.

Pierce County prosecutors have charged Mondau with one count of vehicular homicide in the April 6, 2009 crash. Mark Kaytna, 43, was killed when his motorcycle and Mondau’s vehicle collided at the uncontrolled intersection at North Sixth Street and North Grant Avenue that night.

Pierce County prosecutors have filed charges against an 18-year-old woman for her alleged role in a deadly car crash last year on the Sumner-Buckley Highway.

Kaitlin Rose Baumgartner was charged today with vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault. Her arraignment is scheduled for April 13, according to the online court calendar.

Prosecutors allege Baumgartner acted as an accomplice in the Aug. 29 crash that killed Derrick A. Laiblin, 21. Prosecutors previously had charged Jacob Lee, 19, with vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault. He’s pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

The Bonney Lake mother accused in a January crash that killed her two young sons was booked into jail Thursday afternoon.

Jayme Lynn Davis, 41, is expected to be arraigned on two counts of vehicular homicide this afternoon, according to online court calendars.

A man accused in a hit-and-run crash earlier this year in Fife that killed a 3-month-old boy has pleaded guilty.

Matthew R. Hamilton, 26, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and failure to remain at the scene of an injury accident resulting in death this morning, News Tribune courts reporter Adam Lynn reports. He’s scheduled to be sentenced March 30 at 3 p.m. and faces seven years, three months to nine years, eight months in prison.

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 41-year-old mother with two counts of vehicular homicide in a January crash on the Bay Street curve that killed her two young sons.

Two counts of vehicular homicide were filed against Jayme Lynn Davis this morning. Davis, a Bonney Lake resident, is not in custody and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 30-year-old man in a December crash that killed a 14-year-old boy riding his skateboard near Graham.

Darrell Andrew Ross has been charged with one count of vehicular homicide. He was arraigned this afternoon.
