State Patrol seeks witnesses to Sunday crash on northbound I-5 in Federal Way

The State Patrol is looking for witnesses to a Sunday night crash that happened on northbound Interstate 5 in Federal Way.

A gold Chrysler 300 crashed just before 11 p.m. with a concrete barrier on the freeway and rolled over onto its top near South 272nd Street, according to the State Patrol.

Troopers said there were three people in the vehicle, and that the driver was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence and vehicular assault.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 425-401-7719.

Charges filed against alleged driver in Pacific Avenue hit-and-run

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 59-year-old man in connection with a serious-injury, hit-and-run crash on Pacific Avenue in Tacoma on Thursday.

Paul J. Sunich was arraigned Friday on charges of vehicular assault and failure to remain at the scene of an injury accident.

The incident occurred just after 3:50 p.m. Thursday.

Child injured after suspected drunken driver hits car along Tacoma waterfront

A suspected drunken driver crashed into another vehicle late Wednesday on Ruston Way, injuring a 5-year-old child, the Tacoma Police Department reported.

The child was injured around the eye area. The injury was not considered serious, police reported.

The crash occurred just before 11:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of Ruston Way. The suspect’s vehicle hit the other vehicle, which contained two adults and two children, police reported.

The suspect, a 29-year-old woman, was believed to be intoxicated. She was injured and taken to the hospital.

UPDATED: Teenage girl killed in hit-and-run crash in Milton; two arrested

A 15-year-old girl died early today after being struck by a vehicle last night in Milton.

The crash occurred about 9 p.m., the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office reported.

Kelsey Parrett and a friend were walking down 15th Avenue between Juniper and Hemlock streets when she was struck from behind by a GMC van.

The two were headed to a friend’s house at the time, Milton Police Chief Bill Rhoads said. He added that while there are no sidewalks on that stretch of road, the two girls were off to the side.

Charges filed after man critically injured on I-5 while stopped with flat tire

A 27-year-old man has been charged with critically injuring a man who had pulled to the shoulder of Interstate 5 in Tacoma on Saturday night because of a flat tire.

Prosecutors allege Guillermo Garcia-Hernandez struck the victim’s car, which then hit the man and threw him 50 feet. The man suffered massive internal injuries, including broken bones, charging documents state. The injuries were considered life threatening.

Garcia-Hernandez has been charged with vehicular assault. He was arraigned Monday and is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. He also has an immigration hold.

Man charged in serious-injury crash Friday on SR 410 near Buckley

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 51-year-old man in connection with a serious-injury crash Friday on State Route 410 near Buckley.

Vernon Tracy Pitts was arraigned Monday on vehicular assault and driving with a suspended or revoked license. He’s being held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Troopers responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Route 410 and Mundy Loss Road near Buckley about 12:15 p.m. Friday.

Man charged in deadly Christmas Day crash in Roy area

A 23-year-old man accused in a crash on Christmas Day in the Roy area that killed two women is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon.

Pierce County prosecutors have charged Lyle C. Painter IV with two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault in connection with the Dec. 25 crash. Prosecutors allege Painter was driving in a reckless manner or with a disregard to public safety.

Jennifer Ussery, 36, and her stepmother, 74-year-old Dorothy Jones-Ussery, died of injuries sustained in the crash.

One arrested, two injured in Puyallup chain-reaction crash

Washington State Patrol troopers arrested an Enumclaw woman Saturday after she alleged drove too fast for the rainy conditions, caused a chain-reaction crash and seriously injured a Buckley teen.

The 18-year-old Buckley woman sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup for treatment, a State Patrol press release said.

The crash occurred about 1:55 p.m. Saturday in the westbound lanes of State Route 512 near the Puyallup Fairgrounds. The four-car crash blocked two of the three lanes for more than two hours.
