Elderly man missing on Vashon Island

The King County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to find an 84-year-old man with Alzheimer’s who disappeared Wednesday on Vashon Island.

Jack Randles was last seen about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday walking in red pajamas near downtown Vashon, deputies reported.

He is white, 6 feet tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He has white hair and a mustache.

The Sheriff’s Office’s search and rescue team is looking in the area.

Anyone who sees Randles is asked to call 911 or the Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-3311.


Two sought in Vashon Island home-invasion robbery

King County sheriff’s detectives need the public’s help in identifying two men who broke into a Vashon Island home earlier this month, tied up the homeowner and pistol whipped him.

The Sheriff’s Office released surveillance images of the suspects today in hopes that someone recognizes them and calls police.

The home-invasion robbery occurred about 6:30 a.m. Aug. 19. The 46-year-old man had been asleep in the home in the 9400 block of Southwest Gorsuch Road when two masked men burst into the bedroom and tied the victim up with duct tape, deputies reported.

DNA match clinches arrest in Vashon Island rape case

A DNA hit led to an arrest Tuesday in a rape of a teen on Vashon Island in January.

A 27-year-old Vashon man was arrested in Seattle and booked into the King County Jail. Bail has been set at $500,000, and formal charges are expected tomorrow.

On Jan. 10, a 16-year-old girl was sleeping in her bedroom around 4 a.m. when a man came in the home through an unlocked door. He entered the girl’s room, raped her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
