State Patrol to host info-session Wednesday about family Internet safety

Washington State Patrol detectives will field questions about Internet safety via Twitter Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Questions can be tweeted to the hashtag #askWSP.

Sgt. Carlos Rodriguez and Sgt. Jesse Regalado, who both have experience investigating computer crimes against children, will respond.

The State Patrol encourages parents, mentors and school and community leaders to participate.

The officials will not answer questions about ongoing cases.

Puyallup Police Department joins Twitter

Puyallup police will be tweeting from @PuyallupPD, the department said today.

Officers will tweet photos and videos of crimes, information about missing and wanted persons, crime prevention tips and safety information, according to the department.

They’ll also use the account to get the word out about time-sensitive events, such as road closures, weather and in-progress crimes.

As the new site won’t be monitored, officers ask that emergencies still be reported to 911.
