Armed man fatally shot by Lakewood police identified

A man who was fatally shot by Lakewood police in Tillicum Tuesday night has been identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office as 28-year-old Patrick O’Meara.

Police said they opened fire on the man when he refused their commands and made a move they found threatening.

O’Meara was pronounced dead at the scene. His death was ruled a homicide, and was caused by multiple gunshot wounds, the Medical Examiner’s Office said. Those officials did not have a city of residence listed for the man.

The shooting happened about 11:15 p.m. in the 14900 block of Washington Avenue Southwest.

Fire destroys mobile home near Tillicum

Crews responded to a mobile home fire reported about 6:45 a.m. today in the 8800 block of Forest Road Southwest, near Tillicum, according to West Pierce Fire & Rescue.

The home was a total loss.

It appears that no one was home at the time of the fire and no one was reported leaving the residence during the blaze, but crews are still investigating, according to West Pierce.

Officials have not determined what started the fire.

Four people charged in two strong-arm robberies in Tillicum

Pierce County prosecutors have charged four young adults with punching and kicking two citizens during robberies in Tillicum earlier this week.

Michael L. Warren, 23; Mathew J. Holt, 20; Brandon L. Buckley, 18; and Krystal R. Smith, 21, were each charged Thursday with two counts of first-degree robbery and made court appearances.

Holt was ordered held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $100,000. The others were ordered held on lesser amounts.

Man tries to steal flat-screen TV during Tillicum burglary, made off with soda instead

Lakewood police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a burglar who tried and tried to pry a large flat-screen TV out of a Tillicum restaurant, then stolen soda and energy drinks instead.

A surveillance camera captured the Jan. 25 burglary at the Wok In Wok Out in the 15200 block of Union Avenue Southwest.

The burglary occurred about 4:45 a.m. The suspect smashed out the large front window and crawled inside, police reported.

One arrested after shooting Sunday night in Tillicum

Lakewood police arrested a 19-year-old woman Sunday night on suspicion of firing a handgun at another car after an altercation.

No one was injured in the shooting

According to scanner traffic, about 5 shots were fired at one vehicle, before multiple cars sped off at about 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Orchard Street Southwest and Grant Avenue Southwest. The bullets hit the car but no one inside.

The shooter was reportedly on foot.

Officers responded to the area. They found the suspect. She was positively identified by the victims and witnesses, police spokeswoman Heidi Hoffman said.
