Initial results of Tacoma Police crackdown New Year’s Eve

The Tacoma Police Department saturated the city’s streets on New Year’s Eve.

The agency had officers assigned to regular patrol, First Night, curfew patrols, DUI enforcement, gang enforcement and party intervention patrols.

Officers responded to several calls for fireworks and shots fired. They were also called to a stabbing in the 500 block of South 56th Street. Officers found a man had been stabbed in the hand during a fight with a known suspect, police reported. The suspect’s vehicle was found in the 1200 block of South Oakes and the knife was recovered.
