UPDATED: SWAT standoff ends at home near Lacey

UPDATED at 9:08 a.m.

A SWAT standoff at a home just outside of Lacey ended this morning after a man wanted on warrants reportedly shot and killed himself.

Thurston County sheriff’s Lt. Greg Elwin told The Olympian that SWAT team members heard the gunshot around 6 a.m. When officers went in, they found the 35-year-old man dead.

Elwin would not release the man’s name.

Thurston County sheriff’s deputies had gone to the home in the 1100 block of Irene Street about 12:40 a.m. today to arrest the 35-year-old man on five outstanding warrants, Thurston County sheriff’s Lt.

DV suspect surrenders after overnight standoff with Tacoma police

Tacoma police arrested a domestic violence suspect early today after a three-hour standoff at his South Tacoma home.

The man was suspected of attacking his mother hours earlier. He was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault-domestic violence, police reported.

Officers were called to the 3400 block of Pacific Avenue about 10:30 p.m. Monday. They found a 70-year-old woman who had a broken jaw.

Officers learned the woman’s son had assaulted her and tried to strangle her, police said. The son then stole the woman’s car and drove off.

WHAT WAS THAT: SWAT vehicle spotted in Lakewood

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team was spotted in the Oakbrook neighborhood of Lakewood this morning.

Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer reports the deputies were assisting with a drug-related warrant.  The team made entry and cleared the scene. The narcotics investigators took over.

SWAT team arrests man on Tacoma’s East Side

Members of the Tacoma Police Department’s SWAT team were called out early today after a man fled a traffic stop.

SWAT team members responded to a home in the 4300 block of East G Street after a wanted felon was believed to have fled inside, Tacoma police reported.
