Young man charged in incident at Sumner skate park

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 20-year-old man with threatening to harm a group of juveniles at a skate park in Graham.

Jacob Ryan Reinhart claimed he was just telling the juveniles they should not harasss “retarded” people and denied threatening to hurt them, charging documents state.

Prosecutors charged Reinhart on Tuesday with second-degree assault. He remains in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

UPDATED: One man killed in weekend crash near Sumner

A 46-year-old man was killed early Sunday in a one-vehicle crash on Valley Avenue East near Sumner, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office reported today.

The office identified him as Kevin Moore.

The crash occurred about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 12900 block of Valley Avenue East.

Moore was driving a Chevy Suburban when it lost control in the 12700 block, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. The vehicle left the road, went through overgrown brush, down an embankment and struck a tree.

Traffic Avenue overpass, ramps closed tonight in Sumner

Crews will be closing the Traffic Avenue overpass at State Route 410 in Sumner tonight for pavement repair work.

According to DOT, the following will be closed from 8:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. tomorrow:

  • Traffic Avenue overpass at SR 410.
  • Eastbound SR 410 on- and off-ramps at Traffic Avenue.
  • Southbound SR 167 ramp to eastbound SR 410. Detour route is via Valley Avenue, to northbound SR 167 and back to SR 410.
  • Right lane on the northbound SR 167 ramp to eastbound SR 410.

The westbound SR 410 on- and off-ramps will remain open at Traffic
