A 39-year-old Tacoma man was taken to Tacoma General Hospital Friday night after he was hit by a 1996 Nissan Pickup while changing a flat tire on his own vehicle on the side of eastbound state Route 512, according to the Washington State Patrol.

He was in stable condition Sunday night, according to the hospital.

The crash happened about 7:30 p.m. on eastbound 512, East of 31st Avenue Southwest. The driver of the pickup was a 24-year-old man from Tacoma, according to the State Patrol.

The cause of the accident was DUI, the State Patrol said.

A crash is partially blocking the off-ramp from eastbound state Route 512 to northbound Interstate 5 this morning, the state DOT reports.

The incident was reported shortly before 10:30 a.m.

10:50 a.m. Update: All lanes are now open. Earlier, a collision completely blocked the off-ramp from eastbound SR 512 to northbound to I-5.

A two-car crash is partially blocking the right lane of westbound state Route 512 near Steele Street in Pierce County.

Firefighters and paramedics are on the scene, the state DOT reports.

Drivers are backed up for about a mile.

A hit-and-run crash blocked the left lane of westbound state Route 512 for a short time early this morning.

The crash was reported near Steele Street, the state DOT reported. The left lane and the ramp from westbound SR 512 to Steele Street were blocked for about 15 minutes. They were cleared just after 2:30 a.m.
