Troopers release sketch of road-rage shooter on SR 167

The Washington State Patrol today released a sketch of a man suspected of shooting and injuring two teenagers during a road-rage incident earlier this week on state Route 167 near Sumner.

The victims – an 18-year-old man and 17-year-old girl – were driving south on SR 167 just before 2 a.m. Monday when another vehicle drove up behind them and passed their vehicle. The suspect drove in the left inside shoulder area and nearly caused a crash, troopers said.

Two shot in road rage incident early today on SR 167

Troopers are searching for a man who shot and injured two teenagers during a road-rage incident early today on state Route 167 in Pierce County.

The same bullet struck both victims – an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl. Both were treated and released from a local hospital, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The shooting took place shortly after 2 a.m.

One hurt in crash early today on SR 167

A 43-year-old Pacific man was injured early today after his vehicle struck the back of a transportation vehicle that was blocking a lane of state Route 167.

The man was taken to Auburn General Hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred just before 3:15 a.m., the Washington State Patrol reported.

A state Department of Transportation vehicle was blocking the left lane of SR 167 in Algona for maintenance. The lights on the vehicle were activitated.

The Pacific man hit the back of the truck.

Troopers were investigating.

ALL CLEAR: Crash blocking lanes of River Road at Pioneer Way in Tacoma

A crash is blocking the left lane of northbound State Route 167, also known as River Road, at Pioneer Way, the state DOT reports.

The incident began shortly after 12:30 p.m.

1:05 p.m. UPDATE: The crash is blocking both northbound lanes of SR 167 at Pioneer Way.

Troopers, firefighters and paramedics are on the scene. Transportation crews are en route.

1:07 p.m. UPDATE: DOT now reports the crash is blocking all lanes in both directions.

1:23 p.m. UPDATE: The crash involved two vehicles, according to Tacoma police. There were initial reports of injuries.

ALL CLEAR: Crash blocks SR 167 near Auburn

A crash is blocking the right lane of northbound state Route 167 and the off-ramp to South 84th Street near Auburn this morning, the state DOT reports.

Troopers, firefighters, paramedics and transportation crews are on the scene.

Drivers are backed up for six miles.

UPDATE: The crash has been cleared to the shoulder, DOT reported at 8:10 a.m. Traffic is backed up 7.5 miles.

NEW INFORMATION: One killed in early morning crash on SR 167 in Auburn

A 29-year-old Bremerton man was killed early today when his car crashed into the back of a semi-truck parked along the shoulder of southbound State Route 167 in Auburn.

The crash occurred just before 4:30 a.m. just north of 15th Street Northwest, Valley Regional Fire Authority reported.

Kin D. Beliakoff was driving south on SR 167 when his vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason, the Washington State Patrol reported.

“The vehicle appeared to maintain freeway speeds as it slammed into the right rear portion of the semi trucks trailer,” a State Patrol press release states.

Semi-truck overturns after avoiding abandoned truck on SR 167

No one was injured last night when a semi-truck overturned on State Route 167 in Pierce County while trying to avoid an abandoned truck.

The accident occurred about 9:45 p.m., the Washington State Patrol reported.

The 46-year-old driver of the semi-truck was going south on State Route 167 near 24th Street East. A truck had been abandoned on the highway, troopers reported.

The semi-truck went to the shoulder to avoid hitting the abandoned truck, then drove back into the southbound lanes.

The semi-truck overturned and blocked both lanes of southbound SR 167.

The incident remains under investigation.

Crash on SR 167 in Auburn moved to shoulder

A crash that was blocking the left HOT lane of northbound State Route 167 in Auburn has been moved to the shoulder.

Troopers remain on the scene of the crash just south of State Route 18 and traffic is backed up for about a mile, the state DOT reports.

The crash involved several vehicles and a semi truck.

Transportation officials advise that the right lane might be blocked when the tow truck arrives.
