Change your smoke alarm batteries, state agency urges

The state Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding residents to change out the batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors when the clocks fall back an hour this weekend.

The time change takes effect Sunday morning.

“Smoke alarms most often fail because of missing, dead or disconnected batteries so changing the batteries at least once a year is a simple, effective way to protect your family and reduce home fire deaths,” a press release states.
