UPDATED: Gunshots fired in parking lot of Lakewood hotel

Lakewood police were investigating a shooting early today at the Western Inn on South Tacoma Way.

One bullet grazed the shoulder of a man sleeping in the cab of his semi-truck, Lakewood police Lt. Chris Lawler said. No other injuries were reported.

The shooting occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. Witnesses reported there was a large fight at the motel, 9920 South Tacoma Way, Lawler said. Someone fired off several rounds in the parking lot.

Officers on patrol in the area of 100th Street Southwest and South Tacoma Way heard the shots, Lawler said.

UPDATED: Tacoma police investigate two shootings

Tacoma police are investigating two shootings in a 10-hour span starting Sunday afternoon. Neither victim suffered life threatening injuries, police reported.

The first shooting occurred shortly after4 p.m. Sunday at a shop in the 3600 block of South 74th Street, police reported. An employee at the shop and a person he knew got into an argument.

The suspect left and returned a short time later with a gun. The suspect allegedly shot the victim several times in the stomach area and then left, police reported.

One injured in shooting at South End park

One man was shot and three others were arrested on suspicion of obstructing officers Thursday night at a South End park.

The 30-year-old man was shot in the right leg and taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, Tacoma police spokesman Ken Viehmann said Friday.

Neighbors reported hearing shots fired in the area of Ryan’s Park (formerly known as Celebration Park), around South 78th Street and Tacoma Avenue, just before 6 p.m. Officers responded and contacted several people who were reportedly uncooperative, Viehmann said.

Couple charged in connection with weekend shooting south of Roy Y

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a husband and wife in connection with the weekend shooting of his cousin.

Prosecutors charged Christopher J. Goerner, 35, with attempted first-degree murder in the Saturday incident. His wife, 32-year-old Wendy Lynn Goerner, was charged with first-degree rendering criminal assistance.

Charging documents provide the following information:

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of state Route 507 and Eighth Avenue South, not far from the Roy Y, on Saturday. (Charging documents do not indicate the time.)

They found a man lying in the street who’d been shot several times, including in the face and back.

Two injured in gunfight near college campus in Parkland

Two men were seriously wounded Wednesday night when they exchanged gunfire inside and outside a Parkland home near the campus of Pacific Lutheran University.

Both men were hospitalized for treatment of their gunshot wounds. Each is expected to survive, Pierce County sheriff’s detective Sgt. Jerry Bates said this morning.

At least one round from the gunfight hit a dorm room at PLU’s South Hall. No one was inside the room at the time. Detectives were investigating whether another round struck the outside of the building, Bates said.

Shots fired after car prowler spotted, chased in South End

Tacoma police were investigating a shooting last night after a homeowner chased after a suspected car prowler in the South End.

No injuries were reported.

According to Tacoma police, a homeowner who lives in the 8400 block of South Park Avenue heard his car alarm go off just after 9:30 p.m. He spotted a suspect get out of his driver’s side door and run down the street, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The prowler got into the passenger side of a smaller vehicle. That car fled, police reported.

The homeowner got into his car and chased the suspect’s vehicle.

Victim shot in hand, provides few details about incident to Tacoma police

Tacoma police were investigating a weekend shooting but the victim hasn’t given them much to go on.

The victim showed up at Tacoma General Hospital on Friday with a gunshot wound to his hand. The injury was not considered life threatening, police reported.

The victim has been uncooperative and kept changing his story. He has not given officers any details about the location of the shooting.

Second man charged in Lakewood shooting

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a second man in connection with a shooting last month in Lakewood that appears to have gang ties.

Frankie A. Romero, 27, was charged Tuesday with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. He’s being held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Earlier this month, prosecutors charged 19-year-old Ryan G. Clark with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. He’s being held in the jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
