The shooting death of a Roy man who deputies said increasingly threatened his neighbors and fired a gun at a sheriff’s department plane was lawful, the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office said today.

Raymond G. LaMadeleine, 50 when he died, was fatally shot in the torso by a Pierce County Sheriff’s Department sharpshooter Jan. 31.

Deputies went to take LaMadeleine into custody at the property he was renting because of his escalating threats, prosecutors said.

Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at a private hobby shop in Roy at 4:30 a.m. Monday. They managed to save two-thirds of the structure – initially reported to be a commercial building.

The fire marshal is on scene to determine the cause of the blaze.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 60-year-old Tenino woman who was killed during an argument with her tenant earlier this week.

Janice Gallaher died in the attack.

Pierce County prosecutors charged Ivan Lee Pinto, 32, with first-degree murder on Thursday, alleging he beat Gallaher with a barbell, then ran over her with a van in the Roy area.

Pinto pleaded not guilty and was ordered held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail during a court appearance Thursday afternoon.

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 32-year-old man with first-degree murder in the death of his landlord early Wednesday.

Ivan Lee Pinto pleaded not guilty to the charge during his arraignment this afternoon. He was ordered held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Pierce County sheriff’s deputies arrested Pinto early Wednesday after he called 911 to report that he’d been attacked and his attacker was dead.

Deputies found Pinto’s 60-year-old landlord dead. The woman had been hit with a barbell and run over by a van, charging documents state.

Pierce County sheriff’s detectives have arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of using a dumbbell to kill a 60-year-old woman he was living with in Tenino.

The man called 911 about 2 a.m. today to report that he’d been attacked and had killed the person on 288th Street South, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

Deputies responded. They found the woman dead and the man uninjured.

Transportation crews are on the scene of a car vs. utility pole crash this morning in Roy.

The crash occurred about 5 a.m. and blocked all lanes of state Route 507, state DOT reports.

Troopers, Roy Police Department, WSDOT IRT and the power company were on the scene.

Update: A detour route back to SR 507 is available via East Gate Road, 8th Avenue South and 288th Street South.

Update 2: Crews are directing one-way, alternating traffic at the scene.

Update 3: The roadway was cleared at 10:20 a.m.

Acting on a tip, Pierce County sheriff’s deputies found two marijuana grow operations and a bounty of stolen property last week on a Roy-area property.

The tipster reported to deputies on Feb. 25 that there was possible stolen property at the home in the 4600 block of 350th Street Court South. There’s a history of criminal activity at the home and the homeowner and his son had outstanding misdemeanor warrants, the Sheriff’s Department reports.

A pastor at a Spanaway-area church was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday near Roy.

Thom Carlson, 43, died at Madigan Army Medical Center shortly after 3:45 p.m., the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office reported.

Carlson was a pastor at Real Life Family Center in Spanaway.
