Tacoma police have arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of taking a pit bull from the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County last month while armed with a knife.

Last week, Pierce County prosecutors charged Bradley James Brant with first-degree robbery in connection with the Aug. 30 incident. A warrant had been issued for his arrest.

Members of the Tacoma Police Department’s gang unit arrested Brant on Tuesday night. He’s expected to make his first court appearance today.

A man who’d met two potential buyers for his cellular phone Thursday night ended up holding the two at gunpoint in Tacoma after they tried to rob him, Tacoma police report.

Tacoma police arrested both suspects, ages 16 and 18, on suspicion of second-degree robbery.

The incident began just after 10:30 p.m. a parking lot in the 4300 block of Tacoma Mall Boulevard. The victim told police he’d advertised his iPhone on Craigslist, the popular classified advertising website.

The 21-year-old female suspect in last week’s deadly home invasion in Edgewood pleaded not guilty to murder and robbery charges Wednesday afternoon.

Amanda Knight was charged in Pierce County Court with first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of second-degree assault in connection with the April 28 death of 43-year-old James Sanders. She has been held in lieu of $2 million bail.

James Sanders’ widow Charlene felt chills when she saw Knight in court. “I remember that face when I was zip-tied on the floor, looking up at her,” Charlene Sanders told reporters after the hearing.

A 53-year-old man accused of robbing two women of and trying to sexual assault one of them last summer in Tacoma has pleaded guilty and been sentenced in the case.

Last month, Earl Lee Sherrod pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree theft, two counts of unlawful imprisonment and intimidating a witness, according to court documents. On Friday, he was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

A 21-year-old man was shot and another young man was booked into jail after a shooting Saturday night in Milton.

The victim was being treated at a Tacoma hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Milton police were called to an apartment complex near Birch Court and 27th Avenue about 7:45 p.m., Chief Bill Rhoads said Monday. Several callers reported that a man had been shot and the suspect had fled in a green minivan. The victim was wounded in the back and provided information to officers, Rhoads said.

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 26-year-old woman with robbery, alleging she held up a small grocery store Wednesday.

Erin Finch was charged Thursday with one count of first-degree robbery. She’s being held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.

Charging documents provide the following information:

The owner of Express Grocery, 15914 94th Ave. Court E., reported that a woman walked up to the counter and put her hand in the front pocket of the black hooded sweatshirt she wore. The woman pointed something at the owner and the owner thought it was a gun.

It pays to watch those surveillance cameras.

A clerk  spotted a masked man outside a convenience store in the 2600 block of North Pearl Street early Monday. The clerk ran to a back room and locked the door, Tacoma police reported.

Meanwhile, the masked bandit entered the store wielding a gun about 12:40 a.m. He looked around for the clerk but finding neither the clerk nor anyone else, left empty handed.

Tacoma police responded and checked the area. They did not find the suspect.

The investigation was continuing.

Police arrested a suspect in a Lakewood armed robbery Thursday night.

The robbery took place a little after 8 p.m. at the South Tacoma Village Shopping Center, on the 8800 block of South Tacoma Way, according to police scanner chatter. The female caller described a young black male 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a slim build, short hair and a silver handgun. The suspected robber was seen running in the center’s parking lot to a Jack in the Box.

Police shut down traffic on Steilacoom Boulevard SW at 8:30 p.m. to investigate.
