Aylen Junior High students delayed from walking home Friday by nearby police investigation

Police asked that Aylen Junior High School officials delay students from walking home Friday as officers investigated a possible attempted burglary nearby.

An officer saw two men just before 2 p.m. walk into the yard of a house in the 1700 block of West Pioneer.

The men tried to break into the house, police said, at which point officers approached and took a 38-year-old man into custody.

The other suspect fled on foot and was not located, police said.

While a K-9 tried to track the second suspect, police asked the school to hold walking students until officers had finished.
