UPDATED: Power restored after large outage in East Pierce County

UPDATED at 12:33 p.m.

About 26,000 Tacoma Power customers  in East Pierce County lost  electricity this morning after a large transmission line went down.

The outages stretched from Spanaway to the Roy area, darkening schools and intersections.

The power has been restored, Tacoma Public Utilities reported around 12:30 p.m.

Utilities crews report that a transmission line went down after large insulators failed.

The outage impacted several schools in the Bethel School District. The district reports that those schools remained in session.

14,000 lose power in Frederickson area

About 14,000 Tacoma Power customers  in the Frederickson-area were without electricity this afternoon after a transmission line outage.

The outage occurred about 2:15 p.m. in the area of 176th Street East and Canyon Road East, the utility reported.

Power has been restored. Anyone who still has no electricity is encouraged to call Tacoma Power at (253) 502-8602.

Lengthy power outage hits south Tacoma

Power was interrupted to about 70 customers of Tacoma Power in south Tacoma for nearly seven hours last night.

Underground lines shorted out about 10:15 p.m. Monday night in the vicinity of South 56th Street and South Mullen Street, according to Chris Gleason, a Tacoma Power spokeswoman. Most of the outage was confined to the Park Green and Cheyenne Place apartment buildings.

Power was restored to nearly all customers by 4:30 a.m., she said.

Wind causes power outages in south, east King County

About 5,000 Puget Sound Energy customers in south and east King County are without electricity this morning.

The wind has knocked some tree limbs down onto power lines, causing the outages, the utility reports.

Crews are working to fix the problem in about 70 locations in Enumclaw, south King and east King county.
