Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 29-year-old man after he allegedly led Lakewood police on a high-speed chase early Friday, then drove at a sheriff’s deputy.

Kamara K. Chouap was charged Monday with first-degree assault and attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle. He’s being held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 23-year-old man, alleging he led police on a high-speed chase down Pacific Avenue early Thursday, lost his shoes while running from deputies and repeatedly punched a police dog.

Mathew I. J. George was charged Friday with attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, attempting to harm a police dog and obstructing a law enforcement officer. He’s being held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

A Lakewood officer and a suspect were injured early today after a pursuit ended with the officer crashing and the suspect being physically taken into custody on a South End Tacoma street.

The officer was treated and released from a local hospital, Lakewood police Lt. Heidi Hoffman said.

“He’s home,” she said shortly before 8 a.m.

The suspect remains hospital for his injuries. His injuries were not immediately known this morning. Once he’s released, he’ll be booked into Pierce County Jail in connection with the early-morning chase.

Lakewood police have arrested two people suspected in a burglary after a pursuit that ended on Interstate 5.

The pursuit ended a short time ago.

The passenger in the suspect vehicle had decided to get out of the vehicle near a restaurant on Pacific Avenue and State Route 512.

“We have both of them in custody,” Lakewood police Lt. Heidi Hoffman reports.

Traffic is backed up on I-5.

UPDATE: The activity blocked the two left lanes of northbound I-5. The activity has been cleared and the lanes reopened to traffic.

Law enforcement officials have caught up to the man who led Lakewood police on a pursuit and ditched his car near the city dump in Tacoma on Friday.

Joshua D. Edee was arrested Tuesday morning. Pierce County prosecutors charged the 27-year-old man Wednesday with attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle. Edee is being held in the Pierce County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail and has a U.S. Marshal hold.

Pierce County prosecutors have filed charges against a 32-year-old man who allegedly sped through east Pierce County on Sunday afternoon as he tried to elude sheriff’s deputies.

Raymond D. McCloud Jr. was charged Monday with felony DUI, attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle and driving with a suspended license.

Last month, a jury convicted a 32-year-old man accused of injuring a Tacoma police officer during a wild pursuit across part of the city last year.

The jury found Miles Jerome Santiago-Serrano guilty of second-degree assault, attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.
