Witness interviewed about Tacoma robbery later charged with the crime

According to court records:

A Tacoma officer approached a car parked near a 7-Eleven May 10 that had just been robbed, and the man inside said he’d just seen someone wearing a cowboy hat run off with a green bag.

The man had been running like he’d committed a crime, he said with a Russian accent, which he dropped partway through the conversation with the officer.

He said he had family members in law enforcement in other parts of the country, and asked if he could leave.

Man charged with eluding officer flees courthouse as verdict is read, deputies say

A man charged with trying to elude police did so again as his verdict was read at the courthouse in downtown Tacoma Wednesday, deputies said.

Leroy Phillip Scott, out on $10,000 bail at the time, complied with officials by showing up for court.

Not so much when he struggled with an officer who tried to detain him and ran out of the courthouse once his verdict was read, Pierce County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jerry Bates said.

No one was injured in the scuffle.
