Ruling: Man died from Lakewood officer’s bullet, not his own in February

Johnson’s death has been ruled a homicide.

Johnson was killed Feb. 8 after his ex-wife called police to her home in the 20 block of Rips Lane Southwest.

Inquest jury makes findings in 2010 Federal Way officer-involved shooting

A King County inquest jury hearing testimony involving a deadly shooting by a Federal Way police officer has finished its deliberations.

The jury found that officer Matthew Leitgeb had reason to fear for his life Aug. 31 when he fired an initial series of bullets at 23-year-old David Young as Young sat behind the wheel of a stolen pickup truck. But they were split over whether the same level of threat existed when Leitgeb fired a second series of shots at Young, killing him, the Seattle Times reports.
