Home man killed in SR 16 motorcycle crash

A 39-year-old man from Home was killed Sunday evening when his motorcycle crashed into a concrete barrier on State Route 16 in Port Orchard, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The crash occurred just after 5:15 p.m. along eastbound SR 16 at Sidney Road.

Douglas Guy was headed east on SR 16 when he went from the left lane to the right lane, then hit the concrete overpass barrier, troopers reported. Guy was ejected and hit a fence.

Troopers continue to investigate what led up to the crash.

Motorcycle ride Saturday in honor of slain Loomis guard

The Tacoma Elks Lodge will be hosting a motorcycle run this weekend in honor of a Loomis armored car guard killed during a robbery in June.

Registration for the ride begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 1965 Union Ave. The first bikes will leave the lodge at 9:30 a.m.

The ride costs $30 for a bike and its rider and $10 for a passenger, according to a press release. The money from the event will go to the Lodge’s Veterans Committee and the Fort Lewis Warrior Transition Battalion.

Wreck injures motorcycle rider on Jackson Ave., near Highway 16

A motorcycle rider wrecked Friday evening on Jackson Avenue just off Highway 16 in Tacoma, firefighters reported.

The rider was taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries. The wreck occurred about 9:15 p.m.

The exit onto Jackson Avenue from Highway 16 was closed, as was a portion of Jackson, while crews investigated the crash.
