Pierce County has a new prosecutor.

The Pierce County Council named Mark Lindquist to the top spot during a meeting Tuesday afternoon.

Lindquist takes over for Gerry Horne, who retired Monday after nine years as the prosecutor and 26 years in the office.

The prosecutor is an elected position. The position will be up for election next year.

Lindquist has already filed to run for prosecutor next year. No one else has filed, reports TNT Pierce County reporter David Wickert. He checked with the Public Disclosure Commission last year.
